Tong
General Partner, PACT VC
Tong serves as General Partner. She brings technical background and extensive M&A experience to founders.
Tong Gu is a General Partner at Pact and the firm's presence on the ground in the United States. She has a technical background and is a founder herself: she co-founded qisense, an AI analytics business in Shanghai, ran it as COO, built a team of 40 and led it through to acquisition by one of China's leading consulting groups. Before that she spent six years in technology M&A as an investment banker at Citi and Compass Partners across London and Hong Kong, and later joined the founding team of ADV, a £150m early-stage fund, where her investments included Perlego. She studied engineering at Imperial College London and holds an MBA from INSEAD. Tong works with founders on product, strategic finance and operations — the questions that decide whether a company survives its own growth — and gives them on-the-ground access to the US market alongside strong connectivity into Asia. Her M&A background means she is as comfortable in the numbers as in the operating plan: modelling a round, pressure-testing unit economics, or preparing a company for an exit conversation.
